Pomodoro Technique: How It Changed My Productivity Game | Sahil Bagwan

Pomodoro Sahil Bagwan

Life gets busy, chaotic, and sometimes downright overwhelming. That’s how I felt until I stumbled upon the Pomodoro Technique. At first, it sounded too simple to make a difference—just 25-minute work intervals with breaks in between. But when I gave it a shot, it completely transformed the way I approach my work and daily tasks.

Let me share how this little technique has helped me boost productivity and manage my time better.

I first heard about the Pomodoro Technique during one of those late-night YouTube binges. I was juggling multiple responsibilities—work, personal goals, and a growing interest in content creation—and struggling to give each the attention it deserved. I’d sit down to work, but distractions would creep in, or I’d feel exhausted after just a few hours.

I needed a change. That’s when I decided to try the Pomodoro Technique.

The Magic of 25 Minutes

The idea of working for just 25 minutes at a stretch sounded manageable, even on my busiest days. I set a timer, picked a task, and started. Something amazing happened:

  • I stayed focused, knowing the session was short.
  • I didn’t feel overwhelmed because I wasn’t looking at my entire to-do list—just one task at a time.
  • By the time the timer went off, I realized I’d done more in 25 minutes than I often did in an hour of distracted work.

What Changed in My Daily Life

  1. Better Time Management
Before using Pomodoro, my day often felt like a blur—I’d start tasks but leave them unfinished or lose track of time. Now, I break my day into focused Pomodoros and feel more in control. Whether it’s work-related tasks, reading, or planning future projects, everything gets its dedicated time slot.

  2. Less Procrastination
Let’s face it, starting a task is often the hardest part. But with Pomodoro, knowing I only need to commit to 25 minutes makes it easier to begin. It’s like tricking my brain into thinking, “It’s just a short sprint, not a marathon.”

  3. Improved Focus
With my phone on silent and distractions minimized, my focus during each Pomodoro is sharper than ever. I’ve noticed this especially when I’m writing blogs or brainstorming creative ideas.

  4. Energy Conservation
Those 5-minute breaks are a lifesaver. Instead of powering through work and feeling drained by midday, I use breaks to stretch, grab water, or just breathe. These pauses recharge me and help maintain my energy levels throughout the day.

  5. A Sense of Accomplishment
At the end of each day, I look at the number of Pomodoros I’ve completed, and it feels like I’ve won small battles against procrastination. This little sense of achievement keeps me motivated.

Here’s how the Pomodoro Technique fits into my everyday life:

  • Work Tasks: As a relationship officer, I use it to manage client calls, emails, and follow-ups. It helps me stay on track without getting overwhelmed.
  • Content Creation: Planning and writing blogs feel easier when broken into Pomodoros.
  • Reading & Learning: Whether it’s self-help books or exploring digital marketing, I use Pomodoro to dive deep without distractions.
  • Personal Goals: Even tasks like planning my personal branding or brainstorming startup ideas feel more structured.

The Pomodoro Technique hasn’t just helped me become more productive—it’s also reduced stress. Knowing I have a system to manage my time gives me a sense of control over my day. It’s no longer about doing everything at once but doing one thing at a time, with focus and intention.

If you’re feeling overwhelmed or struggling with productivity, I can honestly say this technique is worth trying. It’s simple, effective, and has been a game-changer for me.

For now, I’ll let you in on a little secret: this blog? Written in three Pomodoros! 😊

But I didn’t let this shift discourage me. Instead, I embraced the opportunity to explore the finance sector—a completely new and challenging world for me.
